Ancient Emergence I
Lower Yosemite Falls
Environmental and Social Impact
My intention is to imprint these visuals in the viewer’s eye. Help develop a way in which no matter which natural environment they look at, they are able to see further, through the obvious and identify in it, the beauty that resonates with them. I plan on submitting these artworks for publishing across various print and digital platforms and build marketing resources to help scale their outreach further. Then work on my next set of paintings focused on conservation of ancient trees.
Proposed Public Engagement
These paintings will be on exhibit and free for the public to attend in person. As efficient as it may be, to reach wider audiences digitally, these paintings have to be seen in person for their effect to work as intended. Inspiration is the intended public benefit I aim to offer.
Synopsis
Ancient Emergence is a set of 3 paintings, 4 x 5 feet acrylics on canvas. Each one featuring popular scenic spots in the Yosemite National Park, but unlike any other Environment or Nature work of art that currently exists. While I take this opportunity to visually portray what my mind’s eye sees, I also aspire to bring awareness to the natural environment of these ancient places, in hope that this paradise on earth will be seen with a different perspective, appreciated, respected and protected.
The first painting is a view of the Lower Yosemite falls. Depicted during the close of winter with last of the snow hanging onto the ledges. Fox, bobcat, bear, buffalo, deer and buck, dive through and out of the waterfall, as if they emerge from the shards of water that come down with powerful force. Birds fly downwards and out towards the rocks. One the left of the waterfall is the black, wet shimmering granite wall forming a cove from which 4 massive elephants partly emerge to watch the animals come down the waterfall.
The seconds painting is yet to begin. A similar theme, featuring a massive eagle sitting on the half-dome with its wings spread out as if to protect its domain. Its beak exactly in the spot of the very tip of the rock.
And the third painting featuring 4 Miwok Native American faces emerging out from the monolith; El Capitan, looking out way into the distance.
Milestones
The 3-piece set has currently completed the 1st of 3 stages, with the 1st painting nearly complete. Two remaining paintings are pending, hoping to be completed by the end of this year, or by the first quarter of 2024 latest.
